What we do
NWDVCAS provides support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, and as they navigate the legal system. We provide information, advocacy, and referrals to relevant services and resources as well as safety planning and resources.

No fee, NWDVCAS is funded by Legal Aid NSW
Who we support:
NWDVCAS is a women's service, inclusive of trans women and non-binary folk. NWDVCAS provides support for any woman seeking advice around domestic and family violence, healthy relationships, court support (local and family).
Inclusion and cultural safety for First Nations clients:
NWDVCAS employs an Aboriginal Focus Worker to provide culturally relevant support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. This is an identified position. NWDVCAS staff have received training around supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Inclusion and safety for clients of diverse sexualities:
NWDVCAS staff undertake various workshops and training to improve service provision for clients of diverse sexualities. This ensures staff are better equipped to respond effectively to the needs of each situation. NWDVCAS has resources available in the Women's Safety Hub to access around diverse sexualities and domestic violence.
Inclusion and safety for clients of diverse genders:
NWDVCAS staff undertake various workshops and training to improve service provision for gender diverse clients. This ensures staff are better equipped to respond effectively to the needs of each situation. NWDVCAS has resources available in the Women's Safety Hub to access around gender diversity and domestic violence.
Inclusion for clients with disability:
NWDVCAS staff receive training around the intersections of domestic violence and living with disability, and have connections with disability services in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie to provide appropriate referrals. The NWDVCAS office has elevator access, as it is on the second floor.
Inclusion of multicultural clients:
NWDVCAS employs a Multicultural Focus Worker who provides an extra layer of culturally informed support to women from CALD backgrounds. NWDVCAS engages interpreters wherever necessary to ensure that women who may not speak English have access to high quality information and support.
